Jason Barrett was born and raised in Martinsburg, West Virginia. He currently resides in downtown Martinsburg with his wife Summer and their adorable dog Winnie. Jason and Summer are expecting their first child – a baby boy – in May! In their spare time, they enjoy exploring West Virginia, taking in sporting events, and traveling to new places.
Jason graduated from Martinsburg High School and then attended Shepherd University before joining his father’s small business. Since then, Jason has made a career as a small business owner, with multiple businesses in the Eastern Panhandle area.
Jason is a Republican member of the West Virginia House of Delegates. He was first elected to the House in 2012. During his time in the legislature, Jason has championed many issues including: second amendment preservation, reducing taxes, controlling state spending, foster care funding, and tourism projects including the Hilltop House Hotel in Historic Harpers Ferry. He currently serves on the Banking and Insurance, Finance, and Political Subdivisions committees.
Jason has always been very involved in the local Eastern Panhandle community, spending time serving on the boards of the Eastern Panhandle Empowerment Center – where he was board president, and the Eastern Regional Airport Authority. Jason is a devoted member of the Martinsburg Elks Lodge #778.
Jason is running for the State Senate because he believes now is the time to build an even better West Virginia. This building starts in Berkeley and Jefferson Counties. What’s good for the Eastern Panhandle, is good for West Virginia.
