
Jason Barrett was born and raised in Martinsburg, West Virginia, and now resides there with his wife Summer, their son Berkeley, their daughter Vandalia, and their dog Winnie.
Jason graduated from Martinsburg High School and then attended Shepherd University before joining his father’s small business. Since then, Jason has made a career as a small business owner, with multiple businesses in the Eastern Panhandle area.
Jason is a Republican member of the West Virginia State Senate. He was first elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates in 2012 and was then elected to the State Senate in 2022. During his time in the legislature, Jason has championed many issues including: second amendment preservation, reducing taxes, controlling state spending, foster care funding, and tourism projects – including the Hilltop House Hotel in Historic Harpers Ferry. Jason currently serves as the Senate Finance Chairman. He also serves as a member of the following committees: Economic Development, Government Organization, Banking and Insurance, and Pensions.
Jason has always been very involved in the local Eastern Panhandle community, spending time serving on the boards of the Eastern Panhandle Empowerment Center – where he was board president, and the Eastern Regional Airport Authority. Jason is a devoted member of the Martinsburg Elks Lodge #778.
